2010/01/21 - Happy New Year
2010 is already looking interesting for music.

The jazz jam is now firmly ensconced in it's new venue on the 4th Wednesday of every month - The Global Cafe - where the JHT residency also continues every second Thursday.

The Led Zep tribute has it's first gig this week - it's been great to play the music LOUD, Marshall Stack, great fun.

My trio will also be appearing with Jenny Green and Martin Smith at a new venue, Bruschetta, where they have a monthly residency. I will soon have some news about appearing with a very well known jazz artist at a Reading venue.

2009/9/20 - Led Zep, Jazz etc.
Well, it looks like I'm going to be doing a Led Zep tribute band which is going to be good fun. Haven't played or listened to this music since I was about 19 but after enjoying reviving my love of Queen a few years back this will be even more getting back to my roots.

Following the demise of the 3Bs residency, it's looking as if the Global Cafe one will stick. It should be 2nd Thursday of every month and it's been going really well.

I'm also pleased to be joining Simon Cook and his trio as a guest house band leader at the Choham jam session in October.

2009/7/29 - Venue news
Sadly, the 3Bs has become an unviable venue from August onwards so my jazz trio's residency there has come to an end after about 10 months. It's a shame as it has so much potential and my thanks go to Andy for booking and supporting.

On a better note, the trio has started some regular gigs at Jagz in Ascot for the summer on the balcony. The first one was very nice - as was the BBQ food. Next one August 23rd 3pm.

The organ trio will be exploring new territory next month as well playing at a new venue for us the Rolyal Standard in Blackheath.

2009/2/19 - JHB CD on sale now!
The first Jamie Howell Band recording is now available to purchase! Our live CD has 5 tracks and a running time of about half an hour. It features 4 tracks recorded live at a recent gig and captures the excitement of a performance. It also has a bonus track recorded in the studio. The CD will be available to buy at gigs but please contact us if you would like one sent to you.

2009/1/16 - Gig & Jam news

2008/11/7 - Jazz trio
Now that the JHB has got going with a string of great gigs, I'm also getting my jazz trio together. We are playing every fifth Thursday (!) at the 3Bs in Reading and continue to be the house band at the Jazz Jam at the Two Poplars every second Sunday of the month.

2008/10/11 - Great first gig for JHB
Last night's first gig for the 'Jamie Howell Band' went really well. We had quite a few people down and the band had a great time playing - the music and style of what we're doing already started to develop over the course of the evening. Really looking forward to the next ones.

2008/07/29 - New Blues Band up and running
I have got my new Blues/Funk band together. We have made a demo recording which can be heard on our MySpace page. It was recorded on the band's first ever meeting and took 5 hours (including learning the songs!) plus a few hours for vocal overdubs. I've already booked a gig in October and I'm looking for more.

2008/03/28 - New Recordings
I've put up some recordings from my latest band 'BassDrum' and my first attempt at engineering and producing. The results can be heard on Rob Lester's MySpace page. I've also added video to the Bio page and new pictures from latest gigs.

2008/03/14 - Jazz Jam Update
I have now fixed a regular situation for the Jazz Jam - first Wednesday of every month. I've also created a blog for up-to-date information and comments as well as links to sites of musicians at the jam. Click here to visit the blog

2008/02/27 - Jazz Jam Session in Reading
I'm starting a new Jazz Jam in Reading at the Wellington Arms on Thursday 6th March. Jamie Howell Quartet performance from 7:30 then open jam session from 8:30 - bring your instrument, all levels welcome. Entry Free. For more info please download the flyer.

2007/11/1 - Engelmarc, Howell and Iacono monthly slot
I will be playing with great jazz-funksters Carl Engelmarc and Fabio Iacono once a month at the Bar Havana, Windsor at the weekly jam session there. Watch my gigs page for specific dates and come down and ses us - and have a play, any style. Free entry.

2007/08/21 - New Stuff
After a long period of 'Business as Usual' I have finally started moving on to some new things.

I have been doing some recording for a friend of mine Rob Lester (Rob's MySpace page). I've been recording his songs and adding extra instrumentation to his acoustic/voice set up. More recordings in the pipeline.

I'm playing in the pit band for a panto at Christmas!

New public gig added for Supafly this Friday. Actually, it's going to be more like the X-Men with Kym Strickland on Vox.

I've been along to a couple of good jam nights recently which I will certainly be doing again. The Britannia in Marlow has a Blues/Rock jam 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month and the Green Note in Camden has an occasional jazz/funk jam on a Sunday.

Watch this space for news of a possible Sunday solo gig in Reading soon - I'll be confirming this very shortly.

2007/05/29 - Brian May and other things
I am very excited about being asked to play in a production of 'We Will Rock You' in October when I will, at last, be able to live out my adolecent fantasy of being Brian May. I even tried out some Brian May guitars yesterday.....

The long-standing but much-faltering jazz-fusion project with Fabio Iacono and Carl Engelmarc is now progressing with new tunes written and rehearsals happening. I look forward to doing more of this.

2007/02/08 - Supafly launch
Supafly have now got a few public dates in the calendar (see the gigs page) and is booking up for the summer. The band are sounding great and I'm looking forward to getting out and playing with them.

Jazz singer Mel Stempinski now has a MySpace page which has solo duo recording we have done recently. We'll be looking for some gigs in local venues soon.

2007/01/06 - POPPE GIG TONIGHT CANCELLED
Tonight's gig at the Water rats has been cancelled due to lack of ticket sales.

2006/11/19 - POPPE GIG CANCELLED 20th NOVEMBER
Unfortunately, Poppe has had to cancel the gig tomorrow due to illness. I will post any alternative date and also news of Thursday's gig which is still on as things stand at the moment.

2006/11/02 - GIG ON 3rd NOVEMBER CANCELLED
Unfortunately, the Supafly gig this Friday has been cancelled due to noise problems with neighbours. Hopefully this will be re-schedualled sometime soon.

2006/10/25 - New Projects Underway
I have a couple of new things getting started at the moment. First off is my solo project and secondly, a new functions band called SupaFly. This band will have it's first showing at River in Henley next week on the 3rd of November and will feature a full horn section, male and female lead singer.

2006/10/11 - More Poppe Gigs
After the success of the Hyde Park gig on Sunday (pics on the gallery page) Poppe and the Seeds have five more gigs lined up in London. See the gig page for details.
